Alcohol and Targeted Advertising Towards Women

  • Multipurpose Room (CBU Campus) (map)

Alcohol is big business, with big advertising budgets. Studies have shown that alcohol companies spend more on advertising than on production costs, and 80% of the ads are targeted towards high-risk groups: young adults and binge drinkers. Women are increasingly being targeted as a market, but they are also uniquely vulnerable to alcohol's damaging effects.

Join a talk with Dr. Kara Thompson to learn about the ads influence drinking behaviour and the impact of targeted advertisements for alcoholic beverages on women.

Drop in the Multipurpose Room (CBU campus) on April 5th, 11:40am-12:55pm. An online option is available. Free lunch will be provided.
